What to expect on your Niagara Falls Power Station tour

Meet your guide at the Skylon Parking Lot B and begin your journey with sweeping views of Niagara Falls from atop Skylon Tower. Explore the history of this century-old hydroelectric power plant through repurposed artefacts, interactive displays, and original machinery, like the giant turbines designed by Nikola Tesla. Learn about Ontario’s pioneering green energy project and get a glimpse of the early stages of power generation at Niagara Falls.

You will then go 180-feet down in a glass elevator to the historic half-mile tunnel. Walk to the end of the 100-year-old Tailrace tunnel to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Horseshoe Falls. The tour ends near The Tesla coil, where science, history, and technology converge to illuminate the Niagara Falls power station with impressive lightning arcs.

Visitor tips

Footwear: Wear sturdy, comfortable, and non-slip footwear considering slippery and wet conditions inside the tunnel.
Underground conditions: Carry a light jacket while heading to the tunnel in the glass elevator as it can get chilly below ground level.
Ponchos available: Ponchos are available on request since you may get wet once you reach the observation deck.
Accessible washrooms: There are several fully accessible washrooms on the generator floor. Make sure you use them before heading toward the tunnel since there are no washrooms there.
Book tickets in advance: It is a good idea to book your tickets at least a week in advance to ensure availability, and avoid queues at the ticket counter, particularly on weekends.
